Elly was born and raised in the south of the country and studied at Leiden University focussing on Latin American studies. During this time, she lived in Brazil and Peru, and Studied at the University of Sao Paolo. After her studies, she pursued a carreer in Advertising in the Middle-East predominantly, and lived in Kuwait, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar for over 5 years.
Afterwards, she returned to the Netherlands and started as a Consultant in Finance Interim Recruitment in 2011. After 10 years, she ended up as an Executive Manager responsible for 4 teams. She decided it was time to move back to doing business herself and step away from management.

Elly has a son and two step-daughters and is currently living in Amstelveen.
